Bronchial Asthma

Bronchial asthma affects the stomach and gastro-intestinal tract manifesting itself in an asthma attack. Here, the bronchial tubes are squeezed due to excessive inflammation and mucus lining of the bronchi and the affected may experience extreme difficulty in inhaling and exhaling. The early symptoms of this disease are indigestion, unnatural stool movement or diarrhea. If a person is extra sensitive to allergens like the hair, fur, feather or skins of animals, pollen, dust, smoke or bacteria then he may be prone to bronchial asthma. In bronchial asthma the person feels a rush of panic in the morning when lying down and unable to breath.  He rushes to open all doors and windows to take a breath of fresh air.

The attack lasts for a few hours and sometimes it extends to a few days also. In cases of acute bronchial asthma the patient has a colorless face and a malnourished body. The patient has difficulty in breathing, experiences a tight feeling around the chest and emits a wheezing sound. Research work has been done to develop treatments for this form of asthma and Ayurvedic treatment is the most fruitful answer. The Ayurvedic medicines Chyawanprash and Agastya Rasayana are beneficial for this disease. Chyawanprash is made out of amla rich in Vitamin C content and does not lose its natural qualities when exposed to the sun. For asthmatic people who are constipated Agastya Rasayana is the ideal cure and the dosage of these two drugs depends on the severity of the diseases.

The effect of these two drugs are time consuming and prolonging but the results are inevitable. Another effective ingredient for curing this disease is Sitopaladi Churna which needs to be taken in recommended amounts along with honey as it causes irritation to the throat in its pure form. There are medicines which contain minerals to give relief to the patients such as the Swasha-kasa-Chintamani Rasa, Suvarna-Pushpasuga Rasa and Kanalwsava. If you are suffering from bronchial asthma you should avoid butter, curd and milk. Fruits like bananas and guavas are to be eliminated from your diet. Fried foods are very harmful. Try and eat light food before going to bed. Any kind of sour substance will aggravate your condition. Smoking is not advisable and consumption of liquor should be minimal. Do not expose yourself to extreme conditions like cold and dampness. Avoid strenuous physical exercise.
